Variables, also known as attributes, are familiar in quantitative research, but can also be used in qualitative analysis. Typically each case in a study might be assigned a value for each variable. Common examples are the gender of a respondent - male or female, age of respondent in years and place of residence.

HyperRESEARCH does not handle attributes or variables. A way of assigning attributes is to create a code and then code the whole document to that code. However, it is not possible to code the whole text in one go if you have used page breaks. Alternatively you can use Cases as the method by which you can sort documents into the main subjects.
